On-campus students who meet any of the listed conditions within the Immunization Certificate will need additional TB testing. When programs are held on campus, student check-in is generally from 3 to 6 p. ET on the Sunday before the start of classes.
Immediately following check-in is an orientation session at 6 p. On the afternoon of check-in you can explore campus, and have dinner. Check-in and orientation are mandatory for all students, including commuter students. Virtual programs will have a required orientation on the first day of class. All students must adhere to the program check-in times as we do not permit students to check in prior to the start of their program. We require all students to present a photo ID when picking up a package. All students are closely supervised by their assigned academic assistants and Resident Counselors RCs. RCs live in the residence halls on the same floor as the students and receive extensive training on student safety, well-being, and engagement. RCs conduct room check-ins each night and supervise all of our events and social activities.
While we do maintain close supervision of our program participants, we are a pre-college program that encourages our students to be independent and reach out to our team as they need support. Like life in college, it is important to note that students may not be supervised at all times, such as during free times and unscheduled breaks or if they choose not to participate in planned activities.
Georgetown has security guards stationed at all major residence hall access points around campus. All security guards are supervised by the Georgetown University Police Department. Each student is assigned to an RC who supervises approximately 25 high school students at a time.
The RCs are members of the Summer Hoya residential team and are trained to maintain a positive community on the floor. The University also operates an emergency response team 24 hours a day to respond in the event of significant emergency situations. Students in the Summer Programs for High School Students who have an outstanding balance as of the first day of the session in which they are registered will need to make payment in full by the close of business p. Yes, class attendance is mandatory and you are expected to be on time for all class meetings. If you have an emergency situation that may require you to miss any class time, you must notify your instructor as early as possible in order to receive approval and make a plan for making up for any missed material. Students who need to withdraw from a course due to too much missed class time are not granted exceptions to the standard refund schedule.
